Emerging Patterns of Resilience: Northeast Permaculture in Action
my illustrations in this new book will help readers to envision thriving ecological, social, and economic systems and the permaculture design processes that will build those systems.

A blueprint for adaptation and resilience at a time of unprecidented change.
why this project is important to me
When Marty reached out to me with his idea for a permaculture design book focused on readability and applicability, I was thrilled. As a recent graduate who had studied permaculture through classes and internships, I had recognized that such a book was necessary. I graduated from Colby-Sawyer College in 2021 with a B.S. in Environmental Studies and a B.A. in Studio Art: two interests that I couldn’t quite seem to tease apart. I am excited to be able to combine my passion for permaculture and art as I illustrate this book. I will be working primarily in watercolor, gouache (watercolor’s opaque cousin), and pen: media that I favor both for their vibrancy and the detail they allow for scientific illustrating. I am looking forward to creating illustrations that will depict these emerging patterns of resilience and help to envision thriving ecological, social, and economic systems on all scales.
